A woman was arrested in Florida, USA for trying to sell her baby son for $7,000.
Police were informed on Saturday that 30-year-old Kenia Bosque was arranging to sell her eight-month-old son.
She had allegedly arranged to meet a man in a residential neighbourhood for the transaction.
According to Special Agent Bob Breeden, the man had previously lived with Bosque and that "she told him that she trusted him not to hurt her child."
It's believed financial hardship was behind the planned sale.
Police arranged to have an undercover agent at the meeting however Ms Bosque didn’t end up turning up.
Authorities had reportedly recorded four telephone calls between the informant and Ms Bosque which was enough evidence to arrest her at her home.
According to the arrest form: “Bosque placed (her son) in harm by attempting to sell the child, which would cause emotional trauma to the child.”
According to the Miami Herald, she was booked into the Miami-Dade County jail on Sunday charged with an adoption violation.
Monroe County Sheriff Bob Peryam said: “We are just so glad we were able to obtain this information in time to intervene before anything could happen to endanger this child.”
Her other children are in the custody of relatives.
